About the timebox template

Plenty to do, not enough time? Product builders everywhere can relate. Timeboxing may be what you need. By purposefully planning your week and setting specific time limits for tasks, you can better balance priorities and avoid the trap of procrastination.

Start by identifying high-priority tasks that must get done and allocating time slots for each. Then, pencil in events, meetings, and lower-priority tasks. Be sure to set aside time for personal to-do's and breaks as well.

It will take time to land on what works best — so reflect on what went well and fold those learnings into next week's plan. This simple approach will help you take control of your schedule and make progress towards your most important work.

How to use the timebox template

Improve your time management skills and make better prioritization decisions.

  1. Plan your time Define what needs to get done over the coming week. List out key tasks, events, meetings, and personal activities to see a full picture. Then prioritize and sequence each item using the weekly planner to help you meet your deadlines.

  2. Be realistic Ensure that the timebox you set for each item is realistic. Consider the complexity of the task and your own working pace. It is better to slightly underestimate and finish early than to consistently overrun your time limits.

  3. Get busy Turn off notifications and communicate to others when you are having a focused work session. Use the built-in timer to hold yourself accountable — giving yourself breaks as needed to recharge your energy.

  4. Reflect and adjust After each timeboxed session, take a moment to reflect on what you accomplished. Did you meet your objectives? How long did the work actually take? Were there unexpected challenges? Adjust your approach for future sessions to keep improving your productivity.
