October 8, 2025 introduction of Aha! AI credits
We are delighted with the widespread use of the Aha! AI assistant and AI capabilities overall. Aha! users can access the assistant at every phase of the product development lifecycle, and are actively using it to draft, refine, prototype, and analyze key moments in their workflows. The introduction of the AI library has also empowered teams to set best practices. Use of the AI assistant and AI capabilities in general assumes that you have it enabled in your account.
On October 22, 2025, we are introducing AI credits. The key aspect of this is that your Aha! account will automatically receive a set of credits as part of your Aha! subscription at no additional cost. Requests of the Aha! AI assistant and other meaningful use of AI capabilities will use the credits in your account. Keep reading for additional details.

When is this happening?
October 22, 2025.
What is new?
On October 22, 2025, we are introducing AI credits. Every paid user in your Aha! account will receive credits for the AI assistant and other AI capabilities. Billing administrators will be able to manage usage across your team.
Here is how it will work:
Your Aha! account will have a set of credits to put towards AI activities.
The number of credits is based on plan type (e.g. Aha! Roadmaps Enterprise), number of paid users, and your subscription term. Note: If you use multiple Aha! products you will receive the credits associated with the higher earning plan.
AI credits are pooled across your account.
Every chat interaction with the Aha! AI assistant will use some of your credits.
Use of other key AI capabilities like interview transcription will also consume credits.
Billing administrators can limit the amount of credits that individual users have access to use.
Billing administrators can track usage at the account level.
Credit usage is based on the complexity of each AI request (think of it as the work the assistant needs to do, based on your input and its output).
Credits will refresh at the start of each subscription term.
Additional credits can be purchased at any time and immediately allocated for use.
What do I need to do?
You do not need to do anything. AI credits will automatically be added to your account. If you have any questions about how AI credits work or how to use Aha! AI functionality in your account, please reach out to our Customer Success team at support@aha.io.
How many AI credits will my account have?
Your billing settings (at User menu -> Settings -> Billing) will have a new section starting on October 22, 2025 that allows you to see your account's AI credits and manage AI credit usage across your account. You will see your AI credits even if you have not enabled the Aha! AI assistant in your account.
Note: Credits for your current billing period will be prorated based on the amount of time remaining. Future billing periods will not be prorated.
How many credits will a typical AI prompt use?
Every chat interaction with the Aha! AI assistant or use of AI capabilities will use some of your account's credits. The amount of credits used will depend on the breadth of the request. This includes the input and the output. Each prompt is unique and it is not possible to know ahead of time how credits will be used, but this table will give you a general set of guidelines:
Example prompts | Approximate credit use |
1 credit
1-2 credits
2-3 credits
5+ credits
Each interaction with the AI assistant will use credits. The number of credits used depends on the size and complexity of your request. Long or detailed instructions, multiple PDFs or images, or large pasted text will require more processing. Additional AI capabilities like transcriptions will use credits as well.
To prompt efficiently: Be specific in your requests, set a target output length, generate an outline before moving into a draft, and refine sections selectively by highlighting text. You should also consider using the AI library to create prompts that are well defined and efficient for repeated tasks.
Can I set AI credit limits in my Aha! account?
Billing administrators can set default limits for all users, as well as unique limits for individual users in your Aha! account.
What happens if I run out of credits?
If your Aha! account runs out of credits before the end of your subscription period, you will not be able to create new prompts for the AI assistant (but you will be able to review your chat history). You will also not be able to use other key AI capabilities. However, your credits will refresh at the start of the next subscription period. You can also purchase more credits (at User menu -> Settings -> Billing) for the account to continue to use core AI functionality.
If a user in your Aha! account is using a disproportionate amount of your account's AI credits, you can limit the amount of credits they have available to use. You might also like to reach out to that user to see how they are using the AI assistant. They might be prompting inefficiently — or could be tasking it with innovative prompts that you might want to consider for the broader team.
Your regular AI credits do not roll over from one subscription period to the next. Any credits you purchase ad hoc will not expire as long as your account is active.
