Understand customer preferences with multi-select polls

by Claire George

Select one answer or all that apply? Some polls are designed to reveal a top priority. Others call for a more complete picture of what customers want. Now, Aha! Ideas lets you create both types — so you can gather richer input and spot patterns that a single answer might miss.

Allow multiple responses in a single poll to uncover broader customer needs.

Polls are a fast way to collect structured input from customers. You can share them via your ideas portal, email, or an in-app widget using Aha! Ideas Advanced — making it easy to reach as many people as possible. Until now, multiple choice polls only allowed one response. That format works well when you want to pinpoint a top priority. But it limits what you can learn when preferences span multiple options.

Now, you can allow customers to select more than one answer in a multiple choice poll. Simply set the new Selection type field to Select multiple when creating your poll. This gives you more flexibility to frame questions that reflect how people actually use your product.

In the example below, we launched an in-app poll asking customers about the devices they use to track rides. We enabled multiple selections and included an open-ended question to capture anything we might have missed.

As responses come in, we can link newly mentioned device types directly to related ideas in our portal (or create new ones).

View poll results by segment and organization to see where specific needs are concentrated. Then, bring those views together on a dashboard to spot patterns and decide where to do deeper discovery or planning.

Choose the best poll format for your question to uncover clearer patterns in customer needs.

Want to see how multi-select polls work? We just launched our own to learn which integrations matter most for Aha! Ideas. Submit your response — we will review the results and use them to guide what we build next.
