This article describes how to customize what comes after your knowledge base's domain in its URL. Read our article on custom knowledge base domains if you are looking for guidance on adding a CNAME.

Customize your knowledge base's URL

Simplify your knowledge base's URL path to help signal to your visitors that they are in the right place. For example, let's say your organization offers several products. You might want to create a separate knowledge base for each of them, using the product each knowledge base supports as its distinct slug. This way, customers know they are on the correct knowledge base.

  • From your knowledge base settings, navigate to Overview General URL.

  • Enter your desired URL path. It must be unique across all your knowledge bases.

Customize a page's URL slug

A page's slug helps knowledge base visitors understand that page's content when someone shares its URL with them. Entering a custom slug for a page in your knowledge base enhances SEO and provides a cleaner URL for the page.

To customize a page's URL slug, scroll to the bottom of the document in your workspace and find the URL slug field. Then, enter the desired slug.

If you do not enter a slug, the default slug for the page will be the document's title (with hyphens instead of spaces).
